Updated Information regarding our forthcoming Alumni Reunion

Dear Alumni,

You are warmly invited to join us to celebrate!  WYNSTONES 80TH ANNIVERSARY & ALUMNI REUNION

Saturday June 23rd

12pm-5pm Summer Fair &

5pm-10.30pm Alumni Reunion Evening

We hope you received the ‘save the date’ notice sent out a few months ago. Since then Martin Davis and I have joined the team to help organise our Alumni event – and a number of other Alumni are helping to make this successful and memorable - but we need your help to spread the word to make this a wonderful evening. We also invite current and former teachers and trustees to join us.

During the day you are welcome to attend the school Summer Fair, and the Barn will be a dedicated space for Alumni to meet and mingle. At the 75 anniversary the Barn featured an exhibition that stimulated much interest, of work by and achievements of Wynstones alumni – books, paintings and displays of current and past activities. We very much hope that some of you will bring paintings, books, photos or anything else which you might like to display to mark eight decades of your lives and work. This can be set up in the Barn Saturday morning anytime between 9am-12.00pm or upon your arrival.

In the evening there will be an opportunity to meet current teachers and trustees, with meal and drinks served on the Front Lawn, followed by the main event of the evening: an invitation to come onto the stage in the Barn and share a line from a play or poem you performed on the same stage, or a memory or anecdote from your time at Wynstones. You could get together with peers to perform a duologue or even a group piece. I very much hope to see some highlights from the last 12 years of my time as the Upper School Drama teacher – so recent alumni, please remember your lines!

Once we have an idea of how many contributions there are, we will programme the event to run in year groups from 1937-2017. Please let me know whether you would like a stage slot. We might have to limit our time to one or two minutes, depending on how many of us are contributing. I believe the Barn and our stage is the spiritual home of the school – all of us have performed something up there – and it would be great to share some of those memorable moments from the past 80 years.

If you are unable to attend we are requesting that you send us a short one to two-minute video of yourself, introducing yourself, stating the years you attended Wynstones and a line from a play or poem you performed on the same stage, or a memory or anecdote from your time at Wynstones.

We plan to compile these videos together and play them at the reunion and also upload them on to the website.  If you would like to do this please email for further instructions.  It is also an option to post a letter which will be included.

Afterwards there will be a bonfire on the Hockey Field, and an opportunity to sing together and jump the embers.

Attached is a programme of events and tickets to the Alumni Reunion can be booked online through Eventbrite at to order the 3-course dinner, catered by Alumnus Nick Allen of Star Anise Café. The cost is £17. However, we invite those who are able to donate a voluntary dinner amount above the regular dinner price to subsidise the more recent and less financially established alumni – who can book a subsidised dinner ticket of £12 for the meal.

Please do tell your ex class-mates and friends to look on the Wynstones website, facebook page and Old Scholars facebook page for information – and encourage them to attend.

We hope to see you there!

‘All the Word’s a Stage’

Alumni Memories from 8 Decades of Wynstones.

The Barn.

Starting with the earliest pupils in order of decades: everyone is invited to come onto the stage and recite/speak a few lines of a play, poem or anecdote from their time at Wynstones.

We would also like alumni who cannot attend to send in a short video clip of themselves introducing themselves, stating their years of attendance and a little memory (recite/speak a few lines of a play, poem or anecdote from their time at Wynstones).   Or a letter would also be suitable.

Please email Petra Peters-Engelbrecht with an approx. time for your piece.

Please email with a request to submit an absentee video and you will be provided with a dropbox address to send video to.

These will be complied and showed at the reunion and also added to the website.

If many contribute we may limit stage time to 1 or 2 mins.
