School Community Choir - The Phoenix Singers

Phoenix Singers: An Invitation

Sunday 7.30-9.00 Term Time only, September-May

Phoenix are a wonderful choir: friendly, fun and they make a great sound....all non audition, and it’s the best time to join them to be able to participate in our two yearly concerts, and enjoy a year’s singing together.  The choir is made up of old scholars, parents and friends of the school. We work towards supporting the two main concerts that the school performs each year - the Christmas Carol Concert (Nine Lessons and Carols) in the cathedral, and a summer concert in recent years held in various venues in May. We ask for a small donation each week (£1 per person) to cover expenses.

We learn carols, old and new, to sing in Gloucester Cathedral on December 1st with the whole school, which is stunning and gives us spine-tingling moments to remember. Our Summer ‘event’ this year on May 4th is ‘Ahoy! Sing for the Mary Rose’ by Alexander L'Estrange an exciting choral cantata celebrating the rise, fall and rise of Henry VIII's warship the Mary Rose. This concert will be a fundraiser for the Sports Hall and Duchene Muscular Dystrophy.

It is always a fun and moving community experience, so, if you’ve been thinking about it, come along.  No experience neccessary.

First choir is Sunday 10th September, 7.30-9pm.

See you there!
